Do I have to pay the whole stay upfront?

No. Contract length and payment are different things: when booking you only pay the initial option for the first month, and the following months are paid month by month.
You choose 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Today you pay the full first month (with a one-time 10% welcome discount if it's your first booking). The rest of the stay is paid monthly.
